Description
Panel One: Lower-angle shot of DJ as he pulls his hair back into a ponytail. He's holding his hair tie in his mouth, and glaring to himself about the large, rowdy crowd of students gathered on the elevated walkway behind him. The crowd is cheering, waving their arms and gesturing excitedly at him. DJ is clearly irritated, and trying his best to ignore them. From off-panel, Cal asks, "Who are they?"
Panel Two: Closeup shot of DJ as he glares over his shoulder, presumably at the crowd. The background is black with a burst of light and lighting running by his eyes. Zane explains, from off-panel, "DJ's got a little fan club."
Panel Three: Extreme closeup of the lower half of Cal's face. He has a wicked grin and the foreground is shadowed ominously.
Panel Four: Slightly low-angle shot of Cal. He puts his hand by his face and calls out, "Hey, DJ!"
Panel Five: High angle shot of DJ as he turns and looks up with a surprised expression on his face.
Panel Six: Head and shoulders shot of Cal. He's smiling brightly and the background is full of soft bokeh effects. "Good luck!" he says.
Panel Seven: DJ smiles back and raises his sword in a salute. The background is soft and full of stars. "Thanks, Cal!"
Panel Eight: Medium shot of Cal, Zane, and the crowd of students just down the walkway from them. The crowd is shocked and there are cartoonish faces and icons showing a range of surprised emotions. Words around the crowd read, "What?!" "OMG!" "He smiled!" ">Gasp!<" Zane, who was just leaning on the railing next to Cal is now bent over the railing, laughing. "Ha ha!" Cal is leaning on the rail with his crossed arms, looking incredibly smug.
Author Note
It's rough being the school idol AND the campus cryptid. But props to Cal for diverting the crowd's attention and being a smug little brat about it. ^_^ Although the crowd has good reason to be so shocked. He spends almost all of his non-class time in his room, so his classmates hardly ever see him without his mask on. He doesn't socialize with anyone, either, so imagine how rare seeing him smile would be.
Sorry for the long hiatus! My wife had surgery (don't worry, it was scheduled, she's fine) and since insurance didn't pay for a home care nurse, I got to be her nurse. I now know how to change a wound vac. Things should progress as per usual now that I'm home and things are going relatively smoothly. See you next week!
