Description
Panel One: Cal is walking behind Dr. King, who is striding briskly down a Gothic hallway. One wall is a series of arched windows. He's carrying a bundle of clothes and a beaked mask in his arms. "I'm not making any trouble, am I? With the room?" "Oh, not at all!" Dr. King answers, smiling, "His father's just terribly strict. He thinks a roommate would be bad for DJ's grades."
Panel Two: The pair from behind. "But you're lucky! DJ's our top student. His grades are the best we've ever seen. He'll be able to - Oh!" Down the hall, a tall, slender figure is leaning against a pillar.
Panel Three: "DJ! Meet your new roommate!" We see DJ. He's wearing the standard student uniform, but with a rectangular silver cloak clasp and belt with silver fittings. He has longish blonde hair in the process of growing out held back with a headband, and dark brown eyes. He's very pretty, and there are roses and sparkles in the background to emphasize it. He's reading a book.
Panel Four: DJ smiles and says, "Hey, it's nice to meet you."
Panel Five: Cal bows to DJ, as is customary on the outside, and says, "I'm Callum. It's nice to meet you, too." Dr. King looks amused by the gesture, and DJ looks surprised.
Author Note
I know we saw DJ on the first pages, but that was a while ago and I wanted to write this as though we're seeing him for the first time. I initially added the roses during the Twitch stream as a joke because, "He's the pretty one, so hey, let's throw some roses on here!" We all laughed, so I kept going and added the sparkly background and the glittery bits, and, well... It turned out great! I was initially planning for a boring wall texture, but this is way better. As for the bowing, that's a thing I figured would come back after the pandemics. Shaking hands wouldn't be safe, and not everyone wears a hat for a hat tip, so bowing, or at least a nod, is what's left. I can imagine a bow is considered more formal than a nod and a wave, but it seems fitting if you're meeting someone for the first time, and especially if they're someone important, like a roommate. Dr. King thinks it's charmingly quaint, but DJ is very surprised that someone would come up and bow when introducing themselves.
What a first impression, eh?
And guess what? There's only one more weekend of Faire, and after that, I can stream on weekends once more! I can't wait! And can you believe that there's only one more page left of issue 1?! AAAHHHHH! It went by so fast! I'm working hard on Issue two in between putting rings together - Here's hoping I can get it all done in time!
Keep Your Distance,
