Panel One: Narration: "Next Day" Medium shot. Fern is joining DJ and Cal in the study hall once more, and is setting down a reuseable glass travel cup of boba tea. She's wearing a sleeveless, shimmery pale blue top with a cowl neck collar, a white ribbon choker, and white capris. Her hair is up in a high, messy ponytail. DJ is already sitting down, opening a book. He's wearing his uniform as usual, and his dark blue headband. Cal is standing next to DJ, going through his bag on the table. Cal is wearing a raglan shirt with a black main body and red three-quarter sleeves. He has on steel gray pants and he's wearing a thin braided silver cable bracelet on his right wrist. "Hi, guys! More diagram copying today, DJ?" says Fern. "No," he answers, "Practice test review."

Panel Two: From behind Fern, towards Cal. "What about you, Cal? she asks. Cal's holding up his notepad and geatures off-panel with his head. "I'm going to reread my notes by the window," he says.

Panel Three: Narration: "A bit later..." Side view. DJ is writing intently on his slate. His book is open beside him. Fern is leaning over the table, coming in from the side of the panel. She has a sly look on her face and a dashed line shows that she's trying to get a look at his slate. "So... What are you writing?" she asks. "I'm copying everything from the practice test," DJ answers. He does not look up.

Panel Four: Fern's POV of the slate., DJ's hands and part of the book. "You call that writing?!" she asks. The words on the slate look like scribbles. The Effect words "Totally Illegible" are pasted over the slate in a messy, scratchy font. "Hey!" says DJ, "How neat are you after copying a test twenty times?" A chibi Fern is in the bottom of the frame, laughing nervously. "Good point!" she says. SFX: Ha! Ha! "He's like a machine!" she thinks.

Panel Five: Medium shot of Fern peeking around the edge of a bookcase. "Cal?" she calls out. She thinks to herself, "Let's see what the human one is doing."

Panel Six: Lower shot, level with Cal and just behind Fern. Cal is asleep in a very comfy-looking oversized wingback chair. He's laying sideways, with his head on one arm and his knees over the opposite one. His notebook is next to him on the seat, and he's holding a white cat, who is curled up, asleep, on his stomach. Sunlight is beaming over the peaceful scene. On the right side of the frame, Fern's left hip is visible, along with her hand planted on it. "How is this studying?" she thinks to herself. "Who are these two?!"
