Current Voting Incentive - A color panel! Guess which one. ^_~

Plague Rat – Chapter 3, Page 15

Description

Panel One: Medium shot of Cal putting clothes in DJ's laundry basket. He has a surprised look on his face. He thinks, "Does he have any regular clothes?"

Panel Two: Close up shot of Cal's hands from his POV. He's holding a sock in each one. One is patterned with bees and honeycombs, while the other has planets and stars. "At least he's got fun socks," Cal says to himself, out loud.

Panel Three: Cal is confused and wonders, "But why? He never takes off his boots."

Panel Four: Cal, from behind, with papers in his hands. He thinks, "Okay, so, what here is trash..." He's staring in shock at the one in his left hand. "What?!" he exclaims.

Panel Five: Another closeup from Cal's POV, this time of the paper in his hand. "Is - is this how he studies?!" he asks. Over and over on the page, in jagged, almost illegible handwriting, is written the phrase, "What organ's failure to properly produce blood cells causes aplastic anemia, MDS, & PNH? : Bones" Cal whispers sarcastically, in Spanish, "Ookay... This isn't creepy or weird at all."

Panel Six: Chibi Cal, astounded as he holds empty coffee mugs in his hands over a box that's he's filled with other dirty mugs. The box is literally heaping with them. "How has he not vibrated into another dimension by now?" he asks, in Spanish.

Panel Seven: Cal in front of the open closet, with a shining rapier in one hand, and a white fencing helmet with a hood attached in the other. "DJ's a swordfighter?!" He's staring in awe at what he's got in his hands. "Cool!"

Author Note

You can learn a lot about a person by looking at their space. Or, as in this case, when you clean up after them.

I had a lot of fun with the art on this page! I made the patterns for DJ's socks, and yes, they actually exist for real. I have them up in my Redbubble shop if you're interested.

Okay, so, DJ's handwriting is supposed to be almost illegible, but I couldn't find a font that was the right level of "messy". So, I just used my own handwriting for his, because mine's pretty bad, too. I'm going to have to turn it into an actual font, because I know for fact that we'll see his handwriting again, and trying to write with the right balance of "messy, yet still legible" is hard to do.

Special thanks to patron G12G4 for the bone knowledge for DJ's study paper! ^_^ Yes, it's supposed to be a reference to "The Shining".
