Description
Panel One: Close-up view of DJ's slate. There's a drawing of a bone, the left scapula, half-finished on the slate. It's also partially-labelled. DJ is drawing the outside edge of the bone, working upside-down, from memory. From off-panel, Fern asks, "You work... Upside-down?"
Panel Two: Close shot of Fern, leaning forward to stare at DJ's slate as he works, with her eyes wide in amazement. "Sometimes," DJ answers, from off-panel. Fern says, "Cal, are you seeing - "
Panel Three: "- This?" Fern continues, from off-panel. Medium shot of Cal. He's trying to balance his quill on his fingertip. The wall and a window is visible behind him. It's a bright, sunny day outside. "Seeing what?" he asks, not taking his eyes off of his quill.
Panel Four: Wider view of the table. DJ is bent over his slate, still drawing. "Have you even been - What?!" Fern says. She is looking in shock at the other half of the table. There's books, papers, several open books, and a large copy of the periodic table of elements spread out over the table. Cal leans back and gestures, "This is how I study," he explains.
Panel Five: Overhead view of Cal's study materials and notes, including an open bottle of ink. Cal's lower torso and hands are partially visible at the top of the frame. At first glance it appears chaotic, but things are actually neatly arranged and his notes are organized. "I'm working on chemistry," he says. "Chemistry. So why do you have an atlas?" Fern asks, from off-panel. "I'm seeing where it started," says Cal, "I like to learn the whole story." "And your balancing act?" asks Fern.
Panel Six: "I like to take breaks," Cal says, from off-panel. View of Fern sitting in her chair. She's giving Cal's study materials a dismissive look. "I see," she replies. Behind her is an all-white copy/ghost of Fern, showing her inner feelings. Her relaxed posture has been replaced with one that looks anxious and her expression is fearful. Shivers run up her spine. The background behind the Inner Thougts Fern is dark and jagged. "What have I gotten myself into?!" she thinks.

So - Saturday is STEEL CITY CON! My books came today and they look GREAT! So, I'll be spending the next few days getting things prepped for the con. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish the next page in time for the regular update schedule, but we'll see.
