Description

Panel One: Doc is shocked. "What?!" Cal slumps in his seat. "They said that's what really killed him."

Panel Two: Cal has sunk far into the front seat of the cart. Off-panel, Doc says, "We heard Mac died in a wagon accident." Cal explains, looking defeated, "The horse kicked him and ruptured... Something. They said if he'd helped himself instead of tending to the others, he'd still be alive."

Panel Three: Doc and Cal both look down, their eyes covered by their hat brims. Doc says, "Mhm. They didn't want you to suffer a similar fate." "Yeah." Blanche is looking at the road, her eyes impassive over her mask as she says, "He never mentioned your breathing issues"

Panel Four: Upward angle of Blanche, who is still staring at the road. "Mac only ever talked about how bright you were. How much you wanted to help and loved to learn. How you were so careful, but tougher than you looked. I see he wasn't exaggerating." We can see a faint smile under her mask.

Panel Five: Doc gives Cal a searching look. "Have you always wanted to be a doctor?" she asks. "Yes."

Panel Six: Cal looks a bit hopeful as Doc answers, "We have good news for you."

Whoa, Blanche talks? She doesn't do it often, but when she does, it's important, and you'd better listen. And there is news, you say? Doc, why are you always so cryptic?

Not much to report on today, other than the fact that the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival has begun, and we work there! I sell my chainmaille and sterling silver jewelry alongside that of my friend Tom, and Evie helps out in the booth. Because of that, I will not bs streaming on weekends until it's over, so there are five more weeks of no weekend art streams. I could theoretically do it, but I'm usually far too dead after Faire to be of much use to anyone, so it would most likely be a few hours of me whining about how my feet hurt while I try to draw the same line five hundred times.
