Description
Panel One: Narration: "Later" Cal and DJ are facing each other. DJ is handing off a long-handled pair of branch choppers to one of the nursing students. "Okay, everything's open," he says, "I'll do the skull since it's a bit more advanced. Can you handle the abdomen?" Cal answers, "I think so."
Panel Two: Closeup of DJ's face in profile, focusing in on his visible eye. He's looking down. "Now, I know this is your first autopsy-"
Panel Three: Same angle, but DJ's looking off to the side. His eye looks a bit smug as he continues, " - So it's okay if you get grossed out and need to - "
Panel Four: Same angle, except now DJ is looking up and he's shocked. He is silent.
Panel Five: DJ looking at Cal in surprise. Cal is bent over the body, his hands inside the abdominal cavity. SFX: ~schlorp~ He's looking up at DJ, his head cocked to the side. "What?" he asks. In the background stands a student researcher holding a test tube.
Panel Six: Breakout panel of Cal holding the corpse's liver in his hands. He stares impassively and says, "I used to be a butcher."
Panel Seven: DJ asks, from off-panel, "I thought you made soap." Cal drops the liver unceremoniously into the dish of some scales resting on a cart. Behind the cart, a nursing student is recording information on her clipboard. SFX: >PLOP!< "My family made soap," Cal answers, "I didn't want to."
Panel Eight: Extreme closeup of DJ's eye. He still looks concerned. "I see," he says.
Author Note
That sounds familiar, doesn't it? ^_~ And how many jobs have you had, Cal?
And that's it, probably as gory as I'm going to get for a while. Fun fact - Autopsies aren't actually that bloody. The More You Know! b^_^
