Plague Rat – Chapter 5, Page 28

Description

Panel One: An image of a circus poster that reads: "Grove Family Circus" at the top, and "Mythical Menagerie" at the bottom. Fern's grandmother is smiling and gesturing towards the entrance of a building painted in wide red and white stripes, like a circus tent. There are banners, balloons and confetti. There are dialogue balloons on top. Fern asks, "The Grove Family Circus? Haven't you heard of us?" "How?" asks Cal, "I just go there."

Panel Two: Fern begins to unwrap her right arm, looping the excess in her left hand. "Oh, right!" she says, "Well, we have lots of acts." From behind her, Cal is putting his bandana back in his pocket as he asks, "What's your act?"

Panel Three: Dynamic shot of Fern kicking the end of her wrapping. It's foreshortened, with the bottom of her shoe taking up a large portion of the frame. The wrapping bursts from the panel, covering the bottom corner of the previous one. Fern is smiling. "I'm an aerialist," she says. SFX: KICK

Panel Four: Closeup of the wrapping as it winds itself around a flying buttress. SFX: FWIP FWIP

Panel Five: Fern hangs casually from the strip of fabric with one hand, wound in such a way that she's mostly horizontal. She's gesturing at Cal with her free, still-wrapped arm. "See?" she asks, with a smirk. "WHOA!" Cal says, staggering back.

Author Note

Hello! I am back from Pennsic, a two-week long, historical re-enactment camping trip. Packing for Pennsic ate more time this year than previous ones, given the new responsibilities that I and my wife have, so I wasn't able to finish it in time. Thank you for hanging in there! ^_^

Another thing that took way more time than I anticipated was the first panel. I wanted to do a fancy circus poster, but just trying to put everything together took all day!

I do want to make a proper poster, but that'lll be bonus art for the future.

Keep Hydrating!
Bran
