Plague Rat – Chapter 1, Page 5

Description

Panel One: Narration - "But then everyone started getting sick." Townsfolk in the marketplace are sneezing and coughing.

Panel Two: Narration - "We had no idea where it came from." A smiling blonde man with an eerie aura about him is handing a folded bundle to a smiling old lady. "Here's your blankets," he says.

Panel Three: Narration - "People just... Started dying." A mass grave filled with simple wooden coffins. A few mourning townsfolk linger beside it. On the far side of the grave is a large, wooden billboard-style memorial. It's covered in posters and pictures remembering the deceased, and there is a wreath at the base.

Panel Four: Narration - "We called for help, but -" A man in a field next to the forest releases a carrier pigeon into the sky. The bird has a small black tube on its leg.

Panel Five: A man's arm extends from the woods, a pistol-style crossbow in his hand.

Panel Six: Narration - "They didn't get here in time." The same merchant who sold the infected blankets is grinning evilly as he centers the carrier pigeon in the sight on his crossbow.

 Author Note

I feel bad for still being a week behind, but you know what? That's okay. I'm doing this because I want to and I enjoy it, so I'm declaring myself caught up! I have the next pages written, and I'm getting a lot faster at Clip Studio Paint, so I should be able to get back to the "One page a week minimum" schedule. Luckily, we'll soon get back to the school so I won't have quite as complex backgrounds to draw. Lots of hallways, brick and stone, you know. I even have a bunch of copyright-free images I can drop in for backgrounds (you've seen some already) when they're wandering in random areas.

But oh, it was FUN shading the baddie with gradients! Ah, it reminded me of the ye olde days of real screentones.

If you want to watch me draw the comic live, I stream on Twitch every night typically starting around... 11-ish? I also do short daytime streams when I can.

Don't forget your hand sanitizer,
Bran
