Plague Rat – Chapter 3, Page 10

Description

Panel One: Wide shot. DJ is walking down a Gothic-style corridor, slumped and with his hands in his pockets. The wall behind him is lined with tall windows. Outside, the sun is setting. He's thinking to himself, "Maybe I shouldn't be so mad about dinner. What if Zane's right and dad's finally learend to relax? I really should thank dad for letting me have a roommate."

Panel Two: DJ opening a large, dark, wooden door. He's smiling brightly as he says, "Hey, dad!"

Panel Three: Same angle. DJ is now frowning. From off-panel, his dad asks, "What are you smiling about?"

Panel Four: Somewhat wide shot of the room that DJ's walking into. It's a fancy office with brocade-patterned wallpaper, book cases, and dark wood paneling. DJ is slouching again, with his hands in his pockets and a sullen look on his face. In the foreground, we can see the back of a man's head. He's pale with blond hair, like DJ. He's sitting (presumably) at a desk in an upholstered chair. "You're late," he says to DJ, who isn't looking at him as he slouches by. The man continues, "No doubt because of that -"

Panel Five: "Martinez." A closeup of the man's hand and the paper he's holding. It's Cal's intake sheet with his name and other information on it. The writing is partially obscured by the man's hand and the speech balloon.

Panel Six: DJ is sitting down in a chair in the back corner of the room. There's a small table to his right, next to the chair, with an ornate tray containing a large coffee carafe and cups on it. "Actually," DJ says, "I was helping mom and Dr. Carter clean up after class."

Panel Seven. DJ glares as he pours himself a cup of coffee. From off-panel, his dad says, "Your mother needs to learn how to take care of her own lab."

Author Note

DJ's dad seems like a super-nice guy, huh?! *eyeroll* No wonder DJ didn't want to see him.

The office is nice, though.

I did have a great time at the con, though! I spent time today restocking the buttons I ran out of, so hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get them photographed and up for purchase on Ko-Fi!
