Description
Panel One: The view from through the telescope. The planet Mars is seen against a starry sky, the ice cap clearly visible. From off-panel, Cal says, "Whoa! I knew Mars had ice on it, but I didn't think there was that much." "I know, right?" DJ responds.
Panel Two: Cal in profile, looking off towards the horizon. The telescope is just visible in the foreground. He says, "And here I thought all you cared about was - "
Panel Three: View from just slightly behind DJ's right elbow. The box he was holding is now open, but the angle is low enough that we can't see inside. Cal is looking at the box with a very surprised expression
Panel Four: A large panel that takes up most of the center of the page. It has a large, ornate frame in place of a normal panel border. In it, DJ is smiling broadly and holds out the open box as he says, "Happy belated birthday!" It's filled with a variety of cakes, pastries and cookies. The background is bright and full of sparkles and lace.
Panel Five: Side view of the walkway. On the left, DJ is mostly in profile, looking sheepish as he says, "I... Don't know what you like, so I just got an assortment." Cal, in profile, has his right hand up near his face as he peers into the cake box.
Author Note
That thing he had to run off and do? Yeah, it was getting the cakes. I like to imagine that he had to run all over the place to fill the box, though. It was late afternoon, so the bakeries were all either closed or just had random stuff left over.
Another question - Which type of cake or pastry would I need to bait a trap with if I wanted to catch you? You could use most anything for me, but if you wanted an easy catch, it would have to be shortbread cookies with some hot earl grey tea. I 'd be in there before you finished filling the cup.
