Description
Panel One: Fern is unzipping her backpack and Cal says to her, "Fern, I think I can help. May I see?" "Uh, sure," she says.
Panel Two: Overheard shot of the three of them. DJ is standing, leaning over the table to better see what Cal's doing. Cal is now sitting in the chair across from DJ, next to Fern. They're facing each other, and Cal has Fern's foot in his lap, with his hands on her foot and calf. "So, what is it?" asks DJ. "Charlie horse," answers Cal, "It's a nasty one, but fixable." "Dammit," says Fern.
Panel Three: Closer shot of Cal as he looks (presumably) at Fern and asks, "Can I work on it?" "Sure," she says, from off-panel, "If you think you c-"
Panel Four: Fern flinching in pain and gripping her chair, with Cal's arm and shoulder in the foreground. "OW! Cal!" she says. "Hold still!" he answers, bent over her foot. From off-panel, someone shushes them. "SHH!"
Panel Five: Wide side shot of their study area. Fern and Cal are to the left, with Fern flinching as Cal works on her foot. DJ, still standing, is now turned to face three other random students. One, wearing a kilt and a white shirt, is carrying a stack of books in their arms. Next to them a boy is tying his shoe, and a girl in a green dress leans back in her chair, tilting into the panel. They all look confused about what's going on. DJ is flustered, and has his hands up, trying to wave off the attention. Fern whispers to Cal, through gritted teeth, "Are you sure you knwo waht your'e doing?" "Yes," he whispers back, "I'm almost done." Other whispers from the room in smaller font fill the empty space in the panel. "What's going on?" "Is Fern all right?" "What's the new guy doing?" DJ is rambling, nervously waving his hands, "It's okay, everybody! Everything's fine, Cal's just fixing Fern's leg. Nothing to worry about, we're good..."

Also, I can imagine that DJ's classmates have probably never seen him look flustered at all, ever, so they're as weirded out by his behavior as they are by whatever's going on with Fern and Cal.
DJ, the best student, the school prince/campus cryptid, who doesn't talk to people, rarely eats in the meal hall, doesn't sleep, and who only leaves his room for class and coffee refills, who's polite but aloof, and cool, is acting like a normal person. This is gossip mill jet fuel.
